Olive wood side table with green resin
The veins of the olive tree seem to wind around a small green lake. It was this image that inspired this side table made of olive wood with green resin.
The grain of olive wood is hard to mistake for any other type of wood. The grain changes direction, converging and diverging, creating a sense of movement even when the piece is stationary.
In the center of the tabletop, the transparent green resin fills an opening in the wood. Rather than covering the olive tree design, it allows its outlines to remain visible and adds a splash of color that shifts slightly with the light.
At the ART137 studio, we prepared the tabletop, applied the resin, and finished the surface with acrylic varnish. The finish protects the wood during daily use and helps highlight the contrasts between the light grain, the darker tones, and the green.
The black metal frame keeps the table visually light and easy to incorporate into different spaces. It can serve as a side table next to a sofa, an armchair, or a bed, so you can keep a book, a cup, or a small lamp close at hand.
This table was handmade and is one of a kind. The olive tree design and the shape of the resin are unique to this piece.
