On this tabletop, the cracks in the oak are not flaws to be hidden. They are what gave this oak coffee table with clear blue resin its character.

The resin follows the contours of each opening, allowing the light to reveal the wood’s shape. The piece can be purchased as a complete table or just as a tabletop.

Oak coffee table with clear blue resin

On this tabletop, the cracks in the oak are not flaws to be hidden. They are what gave this oak coffee table with clear blue resin its character.

The oak slice has an irregular opening in the center and several smaller marks around it. Instead of removing them, we used them as a guide to create the design for the piece.

At the ART137 studio, we fill these spaces with clear blue resin. The resin flows into the cavities, follows the edges of the wood, and allows you to still see the contours that were there before we began working on the tabletop.

The way we see the table changes with the light. At times, the blue becomes more prominent; at others, the transparency reveals the grain, the cracks, and the variations in the oak’s tone.

This piece is available as a complete table or just as a tabletop. In the complete version, the black metal legs create a simple base and leave room to appreciate the wood’s irregular shape.

Part of the Mensalquercus Series, this table was handcrafted and is a one-of-a-kind piece. The central opening, the cracks, and the resin pattern are unique to this piece.

Caring for Handmade Pieces

This piece is more than just a piece of furniture; it is a handmade piece, created with passion and dedication.

To ensure that it remains as beautiful as it was the day you received it, here are some helpful tips on how to care for your piece:

  • Cleaning: Clean the surface of the piece regularly with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaning products or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the piece or its finish.
  • Avoiding moisture: Keep the piece away from humid areas and avoid spilling liquids directly onto the surface of the piece. Use coasters to prevent liquid stains.
  • Sun protection: Avoid exposing the piece to direct sunlight for extended periods, as this can cause discoloration and drying of the piece. Use curtains or blinds to protect the piece from intense sunlight.
  • Heat protection: Always use trivets when serving hot dishes, pots, or hot cups directly on the piece to prevent heat marks.
  • Avoiding scratches: Avoid dragging heavy or rough objects across the piece.

Remember that each piece is unique, just like its story. With these simple care tips, you can enjoy your piece for many years to come.

At ART137, we pay special attention to photographs to ensure accurate representation of colors. Despite our efforts to display colors with maximum precision, it is crucial to keep in mind that the actual perception depends on your monitor settings. We cannot guarantee that the colors shown on your monitor accurately reflect the product's shade upon delivery.

Please also be aware that product photos may slightly vary from the actual piece due to the unique characteristics of wood and resin. This uniqueness makes each item one-of-a-kind and authentic. If you have any questions, we are here to assist.

It's also necessary to consider that wood is a natural product and may exhibit features such as wrinkles and other natural marks. These characteristics should not be considered defects but rather evidence of the authenticity and uniqueness of the piece. They do not warrant a complaint, as they enhance the unique and artisanal character of the product
